APA Help (7th Edition)

Welcome to the APA 7th Edition LibGuide!

Welcome to the APA Help guide. APA is a style of writing and formatting created and updated by the American Psychological Association (APA). APA style contains guidelines for formatting and structuring research papers, reference citations, case studies, literature reviews, and term papers. Certain items listed in this guide have been highlighted in yellow to denote a new change for APA 7th Edition formatting.

You may click the tabs above to help you in the different areas of  APA citation.  For a full APA sample paper that will open in Microsoft Word, click on the link below.

Feel free to contact your campus librarian if you need additional help.

Professional Paper APA Guidelines (for students & publication)

APA has separate guidelines for student and professional papers. Professional papers are manuscripts being submitted for publication. Some instructors at WCU will require you to submit a paper in this format. Please check with your instructor if this needs to be done. Some differences between the formats include:

  • A title page is always included
  • Page headers with a running head and page numbers
  • Author affiliation
